Over the weekend, we swapped our Scottish stomping grounds for the Wirral to attend Glow at The Townhouse, and let us tell you—this was no ordinary swinger's night. Hosted by the ever-wonderful Mr & Mrs G, Glow was a neon-drenched, UV-lit, rave-meets-kink celebration that completely exceeded our expectations and restored our faith in the scene. If you’ve been curious about sex-positive nightlife but hesitant after some not-so-great experiences, this might just be your redemption arc.
🌟 First Impressions & Overall Vibe
We’d had a few less-than-great run-ins with swingers' before, so we arrived cautiously optimistic. But from the moment we stepped inside, it was clear this wasn’t “just another party.” The vibe was upbeat, inclusive, and had that perfect blend of lewd, chill, and chaotic depending on which room you were in. From the more social bar and smoking area to the sensory upstairs rooms and the main rave floor, the energy shifted beautifully throughout the space. It felt like there was truly something for everyone—whether you wanted to flirt, fuck, dance, or just vibe in the corner with a drink.
🎭 Entertainment & Surprises
Glow was full of thoughtful touches. We were greeted with UV jelly shots (that actually tasted nice), free UV body painting, a photo booth, and an array of themed games and demos. Sadly, we missed the UV rope demo (our own fault for not checking the event page properly!), but the spontaneity added to the night. And yes, the glow job event was as chaotic and hilarious as it sounds. We didn’t get involved this time, but next time? Count us in.
(P.S. The glow-themed badges?—we thought they were glow-in-the-dark condoms at first. Next time, maybe?)
🏛️ Venue Magic
The Townhouse is like a TARDIS of filth and fun. From the outside, you’d never guess what’s packed into this three-storey haven: group rooms, medical fetish spaces, bunk beds, bondage furniture, and more cubbies and corners than you can count. It’s clean, well-designed, and full of thoughtful touches—including two smoking areas and a toastie shack run by The Kinky Baker. Absolute game-changer.
It’s not fully accessible, which is a shame, but there were plenty of quieter, chill-out areas to step away from the sensory overload when needed.
🍑 Consent Culture & Community Vibes
One of the biggest standouts was the atmosphere of mutual respect and genuine connection. The hosts were clearly loving life—visible, approachable, and actively involved throughout the night. Mrs G was even painting guests with UV on arrival! Staff and volunteers were checking in throughout the night, and the rules were plastered in every room.
Consent wasn’t just assumed—it was front and centre. Even before the glow job event, there was a clear announcement about boundaries and opt-in engagement. One of our favourite moments? A girl shouting she needed a condom mid-group room scene and three people replying, “We got you, girl!” That’s the energy we’re here for.
🎶 Music, Dancing & Dress Code
The tunes? Banging. Think old school rave anthems, whistles, UV gear, and people literally jumping around in their underwear. The main room had a proper club feel, while the bar offered space to chill and chat. We loved how the dress code encouraged creativity—Cyberdog outfits, UV fishnets, neon lingerie, and lots of body paint. And yes, Felix Mufti from Sex Education was there. Swoon.
🫶 Final Thoughts
Coming from outside the local scene, it can be daunting stepping into a space that feels so established—but Glow at The Townhouse made us feel genuinely welcomed and celebrated. We’re still figuring out where we fit in the wider kink and swingers scenes, but nights like this remind us that you don’t need to have it all figured out to have fun, be safe, and connect.
Whether you're dancing in UV paint or getting a glow job (or both), the only rules are respect, consent, and not yucking someone else’s yum. And on all fronts? Glow delivered.
